BASIC MEDIA
AWARENESS
Our Basic Media Awareness
module runs for 2-3 hours and is a full multi-media
presentation that is always kept up to date with topical
examples of the key media training points.
This module can be presented
to a group of your people up to 20 in size. It is geared to be
interactive so your participants can freely ask questions or
clarifications at any stage of the presentation. We believe
in informality in our training as we know from
experience this adds to the success of the
session.
Course notes and tip cards
that support this presentation are left with each
participant.
What do they miss? The
practical side of the training that is absolutely vital if any
of them are to face a real media encounter. However, you may
have a group of people, such as policy planners, who need to
know how the media operate and what the organisation's media
spokespeople might have to face as a result of their work. They
themselves will not have to face a media interview. This is a
realistic scenario which we have delivered to several of our
bigger clients.
This
session is also ideal for front of house staff who might
experience a "walk in" from a news or current affair TV crew
and may not know how to handle it. Handled improperly, this
type of encounter can have a real negative impact on your
organsiation.
Each participant in this
basic workshop gains a deeper understanding of at least
the following:
Why the media act
the way they do.
What the media are
after and why.
Why organisations need to interact with
the media.
How you can
achieve your goals while helping the media achieve theirs.
The differences
between print and broadcast media.
How to prepare
properly for an interview, including the development and
packaging of key
messages.
Golden rules for
interviews.
Fielding hostile
questions
Fees
Our fees, in 2008, for this
module are $1,500 which means your people can gain a broad
understanding of the media for only $75 each, if 20
attend.
